Online Gaming: The Untapped Niche

By Chris G Williams What’s one of the most lucrative niches that are steadily growing by the hour every day on the internet? Online Gaming! It contains a huge population of male teenagers and older males with large amounts of disposable income. It also includes a lot of high-profile female players and teams who actually receive a lot more attention than millions of the male gamers. Industry experts estimate that the global gaming industry is worth $25 billion in annual sales revenue. The main factor to the growth of this lucrative market is “Online Multiplayer Gaming”. At any given time of the day or night there are millions of people playing games online. Half of the time when these people aren’t gaming they are online surfing the internet, talking in forums and buying goods online. In recent years there have been a number of high profile tournaments and “LANS” (Local Area Networks) where cash prizes up to $120,000 have been offered to the victors. This year a number of these tournaments are actually scheduled to be televised all over the world. This shows that there is huge potential for internet marketers to tackle this “untargeted” market. This has obviously been hard to do or generally unsought of, or I as a gamer of 10 or more years would have seen opportunities and offers before. There are a number of reasons for this that I will expand on in my future articles. There have been a few big things happening in the gaming industry where online businesses have been started and made a great deal of cash. Take the “Instant Messaging”, “Voice Communication” and “Server Browser” program for gamers, “Xfire” It was recently sold for $102 Million. This was founded by Dennis “Thresh” Fong (World Champion of Quake 1) and Mike Cassidy (former CEO of Direct Hit). This program allows gamers from all over the world to search for game servers for all their favourite online games and more importantly, talk to their fellow gamers. If you are playing a game and want to talk to a friend playing another game, then there is a simple keyboard shortcut you can define yourself that you can use whilst playing to simply “IM” them and chat as you both play. It also features voice communications so you can have a number of people, all playing different games, talking to each other at the same time. Put Xfire in Google and you’ll see how popular it is with over 3,600,000 different results. This is highly impressive for a free program which makes its income from selling advertising space to companies to display in its main window. It spread through the world by word of mouth with hardly any advertising from Fong. Imagine if you could create a product or program that pulled in 1% of the hits from Google and 1% of the customers from Xfire were aware of it. Imagine what you could earn if you sold that program for $1! This is an industry that is growing every day. The online gamers on the PC side are prepared to spend thousands of dollars on their PCs, a single graphics card could cost them $600 or more. Now with gaming consoles being hooked up to the internet, the online appeal of gaming is growing every day and so are a whole generation of internet users. They obviously have the money to spend so why don’t you target that audience? The other thing to remember is new games are released every day. There are so many niches within this niche as you could solely focus on one game and its community and still reach a huge audience from all over the world! Chris Williams is a Gamer with 10 years of experience in online gaming in game. He has been using niche marketing to boost his internet marketing business online. His new site teaches marketers how to effectively research a niche and learn how to profit from it. The Planning of a Bridal Shower!

By Mike Yeager Planning a bridal shower? Maybe a dear friend or even sister is getting married and you are in charge of planning the bridal shower? Bridal showers are customary and traditional. They aren’t all about the bridal shower gifts though! They are a way to welcome new family members and celebrate a new beginning for the couple. But, they can also be fun if planned to be. Start with the bridal shower invitations. You can purchase these from any department store with a card section or you can make them yourself using the computer. Either way, make them bright and colorful. Next consider what bridal shower games you might play. Some bridal showers are formal in that there are large amounts of people and a nice dinner atmosphere. Then, there are those that are more relaxed and laid back. At these, bridal shower games would work well. You can find games to play at the craft store or search for free bridal shower games online. More things to consider when planning a bridal shower are bridal shower favors and even bridal shower themes. Many couples have a theme for their entire wedding. While this can simply be nothing more then a color pattern, they can also be characters and ideas. An example would be a Disney theme or a dove theme. Incorporate this theme into the bridal shower is possible. Bridal shower favors can be a great way to allow people to remember the event years later. Often these small gifts given to the guests are ceramics, trinkets, or even just simply sweets. You can find ideas that will suit your theme or your tastes in craft stores or even in some mall stores. Often times, people will attach a small message with their names and the date and event title to the favor as a keepsake. There are many bridal shower ideas available to those looking. Several sources for more information include the public library and the Internet. You can find a lot of information at your fingertips no matter what you are looking for. Making a bridal shower memorable is a great way to honor those you love who are getting married. Taking the time to plan a bridal shower will give you the opportunity to enjoy it as well. How To Lose The Baby Weight Without Starving Yourself

By Carrie Lauth Are you currently pregnant and discouraged about getting back into shape after having your baby? Or maybe you’re a new Mom who is exhausted and getting to the gym is the last thing on your mind! Either way, I hope the following tips help you lose that baby weight. I don’t have any fancy initials behind my name, I’m just a Mom of 4 kids. I’ve been able to get into my favorite Gap jeans fairly quickly after my babies, and I’ve observed that women who do the same have a few things in common. Here are my tips for losing the weight postpartum: 1) Don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to binge. Pregnancy is the time to get strict about nutrition. Eating junk food will produce a small baby and a big Momma. Make your pregnancy a time to turn over a new leaf if you are a junk food junkie. You’ll be developing habits that will serve you well as you teach your children about nutrition. At the same time, don’t obsess about weight gain. I gained between 35-50 pounds for each of my pregnancies, and still didn’t have trouble getting back into my old clothes within a few months postpartum. Focus on good nutrition, stay as active as you can, and you won’t go wrong. 2) Breastfeed your baby. Breastfeeding burns around 500-700 calories a day. Wow- that’s not bad for sitting around relaxing on the couch! Your body puts on 9 pounds during your pregnancy specifically for the purpose of lactation. The extra weight is laid down on your thighs to make sure you will have enough fat to burn to make milk for baby. Call it “famine insurance” if you will. If you don’t breastfeed, guess what? That 9 pounds stays. Several studies show that nursing Moms return to their prepregnancy weight more quickly. Nursing also helps your uterus contract back to its prepregnancy size faster. Plus you’ll have a nicer decolletage to boot! 3) Talk a walk every day Walking is probably the perfect exercise for new Moms. It’s not stressful on your joints (which are still loosey-goosey from the pregnancy hormones for a while after you give birth). It’s free and doesn’t require a babysitter or any special equipment. It gets you out in the sun, which helps regulates your sleep/wake cycle, causing you and baby to sleep better at night and possibly helping prevent postpartum depression. And you can do it with a friend. If you’re sleep deprived and can’t bear the thoughts of exercise, call up a buddy and make a date with her to walk several mornings a week. Then you can treat yourselves to Starbucks and gossip afterwards. 4) “Wear” your baby In addition to the many other benefits, using a baby sling or other soft cloth carrier and wearing your baby will burn lots of calories during the day as you do your household chores or care for other children. It also makes it easier for you to be active. You’ll be less tempted to sit around. Throwing on a sling and sitting baby inside it is much easier than lugging out and setting up a heavy stroller. 5) Curb those cravings Postpartum Moms have cravings for several reasons. One is because serotonin levels are dropping, leading to cravings for sugar. Substitute snacking with another, health producing activity, like getting together with your buddy and going for a walk. Another cause of cravings may be low blood sugar due to inadequate nutrition (eating too infrequently or eating too much refined sugar). Keep your blood sugar in control by eating frequent small meals that are balanced in nutrients. Keep snacks handy that you can grab quickly before you feed the baby. You need fats, protein and complex carbohydrates. Things like dried fruit and nuts, granola, full fat yogurt (buy the plain kind and mix in all-fruit jelly. Most yogurt has way too much sugar otherwise), kefir, vegetables sliced ahead of time and served with dips, hummus, whole grain pita bread, fruit smoothies, etc will keep your blood sugar constant and provide good nutrition. And keep taking your prenatal multivitamin to help prevent deficiencies that may cause cravings. 6) Avoid excessive caffeine Drinking too much caffeine leads to insulin surges which cause your blood sugar to drop. When this happens most people head straight for the refined carbs to quicky bring their blood sugar back up. That’s no good. 7) Get enough rest Easier said than done for a new Mom, to be sure! But if at all possible, nap with your baby. When you are terribly sleep deprived, you tend to gain weight. Consider bringing baby to bed with you if you are nursing. You will sleep better, baby will sleep better, and Daddy will sleep better (making it more likely that he will take baby for a walk and let you nap some afternoons!). Women all over the world have been doing it for thousands of years. As long as you are not morbidly obese, using sleeping pills or inebriated, cosleeping is safe. 8) Focus on good nutrition This is also a challenge for a new, stressed out Mom. Check out books like “The One Armed Cook” for ideas on how to prepare healthy meals with a baby in arms. Visit a La Leche League meeting and ask other Moms how they manage to eat well with kids in the kitchen. Some Moms who were former junk food junkies have done well with the following technique. Before feeding themselves a particular food, they ask: “Would I feed this to my baby?” If the answer is no, they don’t eat it. 9) And lastly, give it time Be realistic- don’t expect yourself to be back into your favorite jeans within a few weeks of delivery. In the meantime, appreciate your new, womanly curves (especially the cleavage that breastfeeding gives you!). I noticed that my clothing style changes somewhat after I have a baby. My normal tailored, classic look gives way to a soft, feminine style that flatters my postpartum body more. Rejoice in your body that can do such awesome things as give birth and nourish a new life! Likely, your partner is much more forgiving of your changing body than you are. Just the other day as I was feeling embarrassed about my still stretched-out postpartum belly, my husband commented on how sexy my belly was, “because that’s where my babies grew”. Enjoy your new baby! 7 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Buy A New Wedding Dress

By Emma Goddard Every bride wants to look her best for her big day; it is the day when you want to shine and stand out as you walk down the aisle. One of the most important things a bride considers about her big day is of course the wedding gown. It should be the dress of your dreams and you should feel like a princess. However buying a new wedding dress isnt always the best option. Here are 7 reasons why you shouldnt buy a new wedding dress. 1. Perhaps the biggest reason that goes against purchasing a new wedding dress is the cost. Wedding dresses average from the cheapest at around 350 to well over 6,000, of course while it is your big day, it is a lot of money for a dress. If you are on a budget then buying a second hand dress could save you hundreds which could go towards other costs. 2. You are only going to be wearing the gown for a few hours on your big day and this is more relevant if you are going to change clothes for your evening reception. So you should ask yourself whether the few hours wear is worth the cost of buying a new dress. 3. Wearing a second hand wedding dress that has been passed down through the family holds more sentimental value than going out and buying a brand new one. You should take this into account when considering whether to go with new or old. 4. If you spend hundreds of pounds on a new dress, you could be on tenterhooks all day making sure you dont have an accident which could ruin your dress, especially if you want to recoup your costs by selling it in the future. 5. If you are thinking of buying a new wedding dress solely for the impact it will have on your guests, then remember that it is only the initial first 10 minutes or so that they see you in it that matters. After this, the wow factor wears off and only you know whether your dress was brand new or second hand. 6. Consider whats going to happen to the dress after your big day. If you spend hundreds on a new dress how are you going to preserve it and store it for the future? If you plan on keeping it for your daughter, it could cost a lot to keep it in good condition. 7. It isnt the cost of the dress or the designer name on the dress that matters or the fact that your dress is brand new or second hand. You are all that matters, you make the dress and your day. A good quality second hand wedding dress can be bought for only a fraction of the cost of a new one and you will still stand out. Emma Goddard is Marketing Director of Share the Dream. Changes in Attitude - First Step in Changing Your Latitude

By Georgia Casciato Ask Songwriter Jimmy Buffet Can Changes in Attitude Change Your Latitude? In this case latitude refers not to the imaginary lines around the earth, but to the really visual rolls that most of us carry around our waistlines. Its true. Most of us have made several unsuccessful trips around the dieting block. So Many Diets, So Little Time Weight Watchers, Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, the Mediterranean Diet; and the list goes on. With so many choices, why do so many people fail at losing weight and maintaining their appropriate weight? Clearly, there is more to long-term success that just the diet. So Whats Missing? People have to have the right attitude to be successful in making lasting lifestyle changes. Being ready means a person must be willing and prepared to make changes in their lives. Developing a winning mindset is a process that unfolds over time. It involves a progression of changes that culminate in lasting behavioral changes. Scientific research shows that not only does a person need to be mentally ready to undertake a diet, but the success of the effort is directly tied to the persons stage of readiness and ability to commit to making a change. This research produced what has come to be known as the Stages of Change Model. Developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente at the University of Rhode Island, the Stages of Change Model has since been applied to a variety of behaviors, including weight loss. It works in part by providing advice at the appropriate time through the successive stages along the path to successful lifestyle change. The Stages can be summarized as follows: Pre-contemplation: A person is giving no thought of changing at all Contemplation: Thinking about changing Preparation: Planning to take action Action Maintenance: Permanent, ongoing change Traditional methods of behavior modification do not work for everyone, and often lead to a frustrating cycle of failure. Understanding the stages through which people must pass during the process of behavior change is an important factor in successful, permanent weight loss. Georgia Casciato is Chief Marketing Officer of NewStartDiets.com, a practical, realistic weight loss approach built upon experience and established through research, resulting in the consolidation of proven methods of success. Natural Born Pest Killers - Home Remedies for Pest Control

By Eric Vinje Not everybody likes cucumbers. You may be interested to learn that ants hate cucumbers, especially cucumber peels. You’ll especially appreciate that fact if you want to get rid of them. Just spread some cucumber peels - the more bitter, the better - where ants enter your home and they should get the message. Consider cucumber the “anti-welcome” mat for ants. Cucumbers are one example of natural pest control. It’s using natural and generally non-toxic ingredients to repel or get rid of pests including ants, wasps, mites, moths, flies and other insects. People are slicing up cucumbers instead of spraying Bug-Be-Gone because they don’t want toxic chemicals in their homes or in their garden sheds. There is growing evidence that synthetic pesticides pose a health risk to humans and animals. Here at Planet Natural, we have a whole slew of natural pest controls, including Orange Guard ($8.95) which uses d-limonene, or orange peel extract, to control insect pests; Safer BioNeem ($12.95), which uses the active ingredient of neem oil - azadirachtin - to kill insects before they become biting or reproducing adults; as well as a variety of traps including the Disposable Yellow Jacket Trap ($4.95) and Apple Maggot Trap ($15.95). For those willing to invest some time and effort at crafting their own remedies, we’ve gone on to list a variety of remedies to help you battle pests on the home front and in your garden. Barriers act like barbed wire to keep crawling pests, such as ants, out. These include garlic - grind it up with water and apply - cayenne pepper, cinnamon, powdered charcoal, bone meal, talcum powder or chalk. Keep in mind that different pests have different aversions, so you’ll have to see what substance works best with the ones trying to sneak into your home. Another way to think of barriers is to grow certain plants around the periphery of your home. They not only look nice, but will also deter pests. Plants known to repel ants and aphids include: spearmint, peppermint and pennyroyal. You can use the same trick for fly control. Just substitute the above plants with mint and basil which repel flies, but smell good to humans. Boiling water is excellent for ant control or if you see where they are creeping into your house, squeeze some lemon into the hole or crack. Barriers also work for snails. They dislike sand, lime, copper or ashes, so use these borders to keep snails away. Baking soda and powdered sugar mixed in equal parts is a good roach killer. Just spread around the area where you see roaches and soon you won’t see them anymore. (Boric Acid, while slightly more toxic, is naturally occurring and is another way to get rid of them.) Here’s a really sneaky way to get rid of fire ants. (All’s fair in love and the war against insect pests.) The only way to get rid of an infestation is to assassinate the queen. Wait until a dry spell is about to end. Sprinkle instant grits on the fire ant hill. The workers will carry the grits to the queen for her royal meal. She’ll eat the grits and when it rains, she’ll drink. And that’s what will kill her. The grits will expand in her stomach and she’ll “bloat” to death. Once she’s out of the way, the leaderless ants will die off. (This suggestion came courtesy of the Tightwad Gazette II book.) Cloves smell better than moth balls and are a natural deterrent against winged pests. You can also create a water trap by filling a small basin with water and leaving a night light suspended over it. Moths will be attracted to the light and will end up crashing and burning and falling into the water. Add a little dish soap to break the surface tension of the water. Corn Gluten Meal may not sound very appetizing, but it’s a natural, preemptive strike against weeds. Apply it early in the spring before weeds sprout. Corn gluten meal is a byproduct of the corn milling process and is a natural fertilizer. Diatomaceous earth is made up of the fossilized remains of diatoms, single-cell organisms. The glass-like nature of diatomaceous earth makes it one of the oldest forms of insecticide. The sharp surfaces cut through the insect cuticle and the insect dies of dehydration. Diatomaceous earth kills earwigs, ants and box elder bugs. Since it’s non-discriminate when it kills, be sure to only apply it just to the ground surface where you think insects are overstaying their welcome. Grind rosemary leaves into a fine dust and sprinkle it onto your pet or its bedding to ward off fleas. Ivory liquid dishwashing detergent can act as a natural insecticide. Dilute with water until it is a 1 or 2 percent solution and then spray on plants. Need neem oil? Neem oil - made from guess what? - neem seeds, prevents fungus growth, and repels and kills insects, including mites. While it fights many scourges, it’s nontoxic to birds, mammals and most beneficial insects. One word of caution - it can sometime affect bees so use it as a spot treatment to minimize contact. Neem oil is usually sold in a concentrated form, to which you add water. Fruit flies are wine connoisseurs. Okay, maybe they are not wine snobs, but they have been known to quaff a few drops here or there. They particularly like Chardonnay or so we hear. Use that knowledge to your advantage: fill up a saucer of some cheap white wine and add a little detergent to it. Leave it around for the flies to sip and die on. This solution brings knew meaning to the expression “rot gut.” A natural fly catcher related to wine is to put something sickly sweet like mango peels in the bottom of narrow-necked wine bottles. The flies can fly in, but can’t fly out. You can even make your own fly paper. Boil water, sugar and corn syrup together. Spread the extra-sticky mixture on brown paper grocery bags and voila you have your own fly paper which will trap flies. For mosquito control the aged old custom of burning citronella candles will help repel the pesky critters. To get rid of slugs and snails, invert a flower pot near a shady plant. Use a stick to prop up the flower pot or place on irregular ground - whatever will give enough of an entrance way for slugs and snails. They will crawl under the rim to avoid the heat. Check the flower pot at the end of the day and remove the slugs and snails. Vinegar is a great herbicide. Fill a spray bottle with vinegar - white is best since it won’t stain, you certainly don’t want to use expensive, aged Balsamic vinegar on weeds - and spray the vinegar on your unwelcome flora on your porch, patio or back yard. It’s one of the few things that will work against noxious weeds such as Canadian Thistle. All vinegars are diluted, so try and buy the highest concentration you can at the supermarket. Using organic lawn fertilizers will not only keep it green, it will make it healthy and more equipped to defend itself against weeds and pests. Organic fertilizers, such as bat guano, grass clippings, alfalfa meal, fish emulsion and worm castings, work well. While natural pest control products are a step up from most commercial insecticides, you should still be restrained about using them. Don’t just leap at something that cures the symptom - look for the underlying or root cause and seek a solution for that problem. Overuse can end up creating new problems - getting rid of one pest in exchange for another. That said, natural pest control can be a great non-toxic solution to keeping your garden and home pest free. This article was written by Eric Vinje of Planet Natural. Baked Alaska

By Robert Baird BAKED ALASKA JEFFERSON AND RUMFORD THE SPY: In the course of researching Rumford and Jefferson I happened upon an interesting item regarding something Rumford developed and Jefferson served long before it was known to restauranteurs. Jefferson installed Rumford fireplaces at Monticello too. One of the leading traitors of the American Revolution, Count Rumford (born plain Benjamin Thompson in Massachusetts), was indirectly responsible for the Baked Alaska. After a spying career on behalf of the British and some other military adventures, he moved to Paris and devoted his life to scientific observation, which included disquisitions on the properties of heat, among which was the recipe for omelette surprise, which used egg whites to insulate ice cream. Inspired by Rumfords work, others labored to create desserts that similarly combined an inner core of ice cream with an outer casing of some hot, sweet matterpastry or meringue. Maybe as a riposte to the Frenchified counterrevolutionary {We must remember that appearances of being against the Revolution did not convince an insider named FDR that Count Rumford was in fact against the Revolution that was really taking place toward a New World Order which gave people a sense of being involved in decisions they really had little control over.} Rumford, Thomas Jefferson, the canonical American intellectual, is reported to have served ice cream encased in hot pastry at a White House dinner during his presidency. Others built on Rumfords breakthrough. The French food writer Baron Lon Bris, who published a highly successful book of recipes despite apparently not knowing how to cook, wrote of the presentation, in 1866, of a dessert similar to the omelette surprise by the chef accompanying a visiting Chinese delegation to a Parisian confrre named Balzac. However, the man most closely identified with this delicious dish was Charles Ranhofer, the legendary (French-born) chef at Delmonicos, the leading restaurant of New York in the nineteenth century. As a celebration of the purchase of Alaska by the United States from Russia in 1867, he served the meringue and ice cream concoction to a grateful world, initially calling it Alaska, Florida.” (1) Author of Diverse Druids and 60 other books, Columnist in many Ezines, Activist for transparency and exposure of Synarchy Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Robert_Baird http://EzineArticles.com/?Baked-Alaska&id=61576 buy tramadol tablets buy tramadol tablets tramadol 50mg free prescription usa buy ultram online at lowest price

How Much is Enough Exercise When Losing Weight?

By Dr. Alan Jenks I know you are probably thinking you dont need to be reading another article on exercising to lose weight. The more I remind patients the more I am blown away at how many choose not to do it. We were recently at a Health Fair. Most of the booths were selling nutritional products to keep you healthy. We were overwhelmed at how many overweight individuals were representing these nutritional companies. They all had the latest and greatest nutrition to take, but couldn’t realize that the best nutrition in the world won’t help if you are still overweight. What most of them had in common was they did not exercise enough. Exercise has to be part of every single day. Find an activity you enjoy, running, biking, swimming, and do it 7 times a week. Walking just doesn’t cut it anymore unless you can raise your heart rate to a fat burning level. Try this trick; take 180 minus your age and exercise for a 1/3 of your time at that heart rate level. Here is how it works. If you are 30 years of age, then your heart rate needs to be 180-30, which is 150 beats per minute. Spend 45-60 a day exercising. Warm up to150 beats per minute for the first third of your exercise. Exercise at 150 beats per minute for the second third of exercise, and cool down to a resting rate for the second third of exercise. Take the next couple of weeks to get into the habit of finding time each day that you can exercise. Calculate your heart rate (180-age). Get use to taking your heart rate at the wrist. It will take a good week to get use to keeping your body in that optimal heart rate for 15 minutes, so take your time and enjoy in an activity that you like. What To Take With You On A Date: Part II

By Peter Portero Although there are so things you know you should take on a date, there are others that you may easily forget due to the excitement of the moment. Creating a checklist before your date is a good way to remember everything you need. Here are other things you may want to bring along as well. If you are a guy, you may want to take your date flowers. It is important to be careful with this display of affection. Going overboard too early in a relationship may scare her away. If you are a female and are picking up your date, you may want to take something as well. Be original with a bottle of wine, or even a case of beer! If you are going to be outdoors you will want to remember to dress appropriately. If it is cool out, you may want to take a jacket along with you. Taking an umbrella is also a good idea if rain is in the forecast. Being uncomfortable is one sure fire way to ruin the date. Be sure to check the weather forecast in advance. If you are attending an event that needs tickets, make sure that you have them with you. Imagine how you will feel if you show up at the baseball stadium and realize the tickets are at home on your kitchen table. This can ruin the whole evening so make sure that you double check that you have everything you need in order to gain admittance to the event.
